Methaq Islamic Banking building is the first integrated building in the Omani commercial and banking sector that operates on a grid-connected solar energy system. This move comes within the National initiative of Bank Muscat (Basmat Watan), which included several main axes, including supporting environmentally-friendly trends and rationalizing energy consumption. The space available on the roof of the building was used to produce approximately 73 megawatts of electricity annually at the peak, using Monocrystalline solar panels to achieve the highest possible production efficiency and 166 solar panels on an area of 270 square meters.
